Charitable Work
A mentor once told me that "you have to give to receive." Through the course of my travels both in the United States and abroad, I have realized how fortunate I am-- my family, my friends, my education, my country and the freedoms are all blessings. I believe whole-heartedly in the expression, "To those who have been given much, much is expected." We all have the ability to help others and profoundly impact lives if only we are willing to look inside ourselves and accept the challenge.
Through my work in pageantry beginning with Miss Champaign-Urbana, I learned the importance of being an advocate. I served as a spokesperson for the Eastern Illinois Foodbank. Additionally, I promoted the official Miss Illinois and Miss America platforms of Children's Miralce Network, Triple Threat Mentoring, Character Counts!, and the Campaign Against Distracted Driving. I was blessed to serve on the Board of Directors for Meals of Hope C-U. We reached our $13,000 fundraising goal and provided over 55,000 meals to hungry families.
